Dry Skin Characteristics: (D)
- Small Pores
- Smooth Looking
- Feels tight immediately after cleansing, especially if no moisturizer is used.
- Rough Texture
- Flakiness
- Skin Rarely Breaks Out
Behaviorial Characteristics:
- Finds many moisturizers do not provide long lasting moisture
- Has to use a moisturizer everyday or skin feels tight and uncomfortable
- May also have sensitive skin issues and avoids many skin care products because she believes they will break her out.
Oily Skin Characteristics (O)
- Large Pores (like the peel of an orange)
- Oil is visible on the surface of skin
- Skin may feel tight after cleansing, but gets oily later in the day
- Moisturizers feel heavy on the skin
- Skin is prone to breakouts and pimples
Behaviorial Characteristics:
- Washes face more than two times per day
- Often uses just water to cleanse skin
- Often wears a moisturizer,although not often needed, because someone told her "Everybody needs a moisturizer".
- Can go all day without wearing a moisturizer and skin is not dry by the end of the day
- Gravitates towards harsh cleansers and tonors because they temporarily dry out her skin and offer temporary comfort.
Combination Skin Characteristics
Combination Dry (Cd)
- Skin has an oily T-zone or oily nose and chin, but dry forehead and cheeks
- Has areas that are oily but most of the face is dry
Combination Oily: (Co)
- Skin has a very oily T-Zone (forehead, nose & chin)
- Has areas that are dry but most of the face is oily
Behaviorial Characteristics
- Usually has a problem buying products that address total needs of skin.
- Has to buy skin care products to match the drier areas and buy another product to address oilier areas.
Normal Skin Characteristics (N)
- Skin has barely noticeable pores
- Skin is neither oily or nor dry
- Skin is not problematic
Behaviorial Characteristics:
- Usually sticks to a simple skin care regimen because skin is easy to care for.
