Natural Skin Solutions was started by Valerie Lewis, Missouri's first African American Esthetician. She has broad experience in skin care which began in 1997. She is also a State Licensed Makeup Artist.
While working as a paralegal, Val enjoyed doing makeovers on her friends and family in her spare time. She originally went to school to be a Licensed Makeup Artist, but when the class covered skin physiology she was "hooked" on skin. She was excited to learn that you could actually do something to make the skin perform better. Later she decided to focus on skin care.
She initially worked in spas throughout the St. Louis area as an Esthetician. She noticed that many of her clients would complain of skin sensitivity and skin discoloration. She also realized that most of the skin care in spas was generic in that almost everyone received the same kind of facials regardless of what the person's skin condition was.
After a year of working in spas, Valerie decided to open her doors for business. She began November 20, 1998. It was at this time, she was fortunate to have been mentored by a Biochemist who studied skin care who taught her what caused skin discoloration and how it occurs on a physiological / cellular level and what has to be done in order to correct it. She decided to specialize in skin discoloration in 1999.
Since then, she has helped thousands of people with uneven skin tones, skin sensitivity, acne, oil control issues, dry skin and skin dehydration. Her work has appeared in Black Men's Magazine, Ron Isley Music Video, Heidi Klum infomercial, Missouri Tourism Board.
Ms. Lewis also developed Natural Skin Junkie,a natural skin product line, that focuses on three primary areas of concern: skin hydration, skin sensitivity, and skin tone. When she began to notice most of her clients complained about skin dryness, skin discoloration and sensitivity to many skin care products, she responded with Natural Skin Junkie. Each product is formulated to address these primary needs. With continued use, the skin becomes brighter and more even in tone as well as better hydrated.
